CREATIVE DESIGN
The creative approach of Villa Ciervo arises from a desire to reclaim the spirit of the Mediterranean garden, where time stretches and nature becomes a refuge.
RESULT
Water becomes a unifying thread. The fountain in the main courtyard reflects the architecture and amplifies the light that characterizes Marbella, enhancing the sensations upon entering. Further on, the pool, with precise lines and a low edge, visually merges with the horizon, blending with the sky and sea. This play of reflections turns the landscape into living material: the garden breathes with the light, changes throughout the day, and falls silent at dusk.
Vegetation is the true protagonist. Centenary olive trees, fan palms, and cypresses structure the composition, while masses of lavender, santolina, and jasmine cover the ground with texture and aroma. The result is an elegant, fresh, and orderly space where Mediterranean nature regains its essence and is presented in a contemporary key. Villa Ciervo is, ultimately, an example of garden design in Marbella that celebrates subtlety: beauty without artifice.
The choice of materials reinforces the project’s identity: sober, natural, and durable. Ivory-toned limestone pavements unify the pathways and reflect the characteristic light of the Costa del Sol. Their smooth texture and neutral tone create a continuous base on which the vegetation stands out with chromatic balance.
Perimeter walls, covered in vegetation, visually merge with the landscape. In certain sections, natural wood screens and green walls are incorporated, adding movement and freshness. Linear planters integrated into the architecture act as an extension of the building and house aromatic plantings that subtly perfume the environment.
Water, an intangible and essential material, is expressed in two ways: the sheet accompanying the entrance and the main pool as a liquid horizon. These elements not only provide freshness but also define the rhythm of the garden and the atmosphere surrounding it.
In the serenity of Los Monteros, where the sea breeze mingles with the scent of pine trees, Villa Ciervo emerges as an exercise in balance between architecture and landscape. The project, designed by La Menara, is based on a clear premise: to reinterpret the Mediterranean garden through a contemporary, elegant, and understated lens. The residence, with its clean lines and white volumes, finds in its surrounding vegetation a natural continuity that softens its geometry and gives it soul.
From the very first step, the garden unfolds as a journey of sensations. The main entrance, defined by natural stone steps accompanied by lavender and rosemary, sets the visitor’s mood for a space where every detail breathes calm. The transition to the living areas occurs via gently staggered platforms, creating different levels for contemplation and stay.
CREATIVE DESIGN
The creative approach of Villa Ciervo arises from a desire to reclaim the spirit of the Mediterranean garden—where time stretches and nature becomes a refuge—and reinterpret it with a contemporary sensitivity. The landscape architects at La Menara conceived the design as a sequence of experiences: from the orderly, luminous entrance to the intimate garden opening to the horizon, with special emphasis on the central courtyard, conceived as the heart of the outdoor space and a place for gathering and contemplation.
The composition is structured along visual axes guiding the gaze toward points of calm: a framed centenary olive tree, the mirrored surface of the water, a group of cypresses marking the garden’s edge, and the courtyard fountain, providing freshness and a delicate sound rhythm along the path. Between them, the terrain is shaped with gentle slopes, creating depth and dynamism without breaking the sense of continuity. Another goal achieved was integrating the platform beneath the pool as an intimate and harmonious garden.
The geometric lines of the architecture extend outward through pavements and planters that define functional spaces: seating areas, terraces, and paths. Yet, the vegetation introduces the necessary naturalness to break rigidity and bring life. Aromatic masses and flowering shrubs are arranged in bands that follow movement and wind, evoking classical southern landscapes reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
Color is approached subtly: silvery greens, bluish grays, whites, and occasional floral touches. This calming palette reinforces the ensemble’s elegance and allows the Mediterranean light to take center stage. The vegetation is designed to change with the seasons, maintaining visual interest and texture year-round without losing coherence.
The design aims to evoke emotion: the sensation of rest. At Villa Ciervo, every element—a stone, a shadow, a water line, or the courtyard fountain—serves well-being. There is no excess or artifice; only proportion, rhythm, and serenity. The garden does not seek to stand out but to accompany, reflect the character of the place, and enhance its essence.
Villa Ciervo thus represents the most refined vision of landscaping on the Costa del Sol: an elegant, timeless, and deeply human Mediterranean garden, where architecture breathes through nature and nature finds order in design. A space to be felt more than seen: luminous, balanced, and full of life.
