LIGHTING

Illuminate your garden with outside lighting

As gardeners we have often been struck by how few people opt to install outside lighting in their gardens. Yet, if they were to see an illuminated garden, we’re convinced that anyone who really wants to enhance the appearance of their garden would make the decision to embrace this fantastic way to make your outdoor area even more beautiful.

A well-designed garden represents a considerable investment, which is why we believe it is worth maximising owners’ enjoyment of the outdoors with lighting that brings it to life and makes it a pleasurable place to be after dark. Most people know something about trends in indoor lighting, but may have seen much less information about what types of lights are best for terraces and gardens.

From studying what is happening in the garden lighting world, we have concluded that this year’s leading trends are:

1 – Phone Controlled Lights

2 – String Lights

3 – Eco-Friendly Fixtures

4 – LED Bulbs

5 – Colour Changing Bulbs

Control lights with your smartphone

The advantages of using lights that are controlled by your smartphone using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is that you can dim or raise the lighting without having to search for the switch, and you can put them on a timer to save energy.  Wherever you are in the house, you can control your garden lights, so it’s top for convenience.

The magic of string lighting

String lighting is one of the most popular trends right now, perhaps because it creates a party atmosphere and there is fun to be had in designing the layout of the lights. They look particularly effective on a terrace, or wound around trees for a magical feel. You can even place them inside shrubbery to make it twinkle.

Keep it eco-friendly

Eco-friendly lighting is a strong 2019 trend. Fixtures made from natural materials, such as bamboo, play an important role in creating an environmentally friendly look that blends in with your garden.

LED lights save money

Using LED lights outdoors will save you around 60% in energy spending. They last for 50,000 hours at a minimum, function in extreme temperatures and are environmentally safe. Furthermore, we have seen some wonderful garden water features with LED lights underwater; they are sure to become a conversation piece.

A change of mood with coloured lights

You may have noticed that using lights where the colour can be changed is a growing design trend, and indeed, being able to change the total ambience from blue to green or any colour at the touch of a button, and so create a range of atmospheres outside, is a lot of fun.
